Caption: I hear your campaign's going very well, Mort. My what is going what now? … For Congress. You campaign for Congress. You were running neck-and-neck for a while with the incumbent, Congressman Snidely. But now you're up by three. Oh. Must be that Blue Wave they keep talking about. Or maybe it's that people find my progressive values to be very attractive. Yeah. That, and they finally buried him, so the mourning period is over. I'm looking forward to the debate.

Caption: This country's moved too far to the left. You can tell every time you turn on the tv. There used to be shows like Little House on the Prairie, which taught good, wholesome family values … and Gunsmoke, which taught good, wholesome respect for the sheriff's proper role as judge, jury and executioner ... and The Munsters which taught us good, wholesome disdain for multiculturalism. Wait ... are you just messing with me?

Caption: What do you mean you don't take Joss Whedon's ex-wife's article at face value? She wrote that he cheated on her for years. That settles everything. No it doesn't. All we heard is her side of the story. And she said at one point she moved away from her personal values to get closer to him. What does that mean. I'll tell you what it might mean: It might mean she knew more than she's letting on, but she was ok with it all the way until he decided to divorce her. Only then did she go back and rewrite history to portray herself as the totally unsuspecting victim. Is this about how your ex lied to the court about you? Is this about how your ex cheated on you?

Caption: Dear Lemont … I got yo stuff. Gimme $2 in unmarked bills or you never see it again. First of all, my stuff is worth more than $2. Have you seen your stuff? Second: Where did you get a typewriter that types in cut-out newspaper letters? That's not important right now. (This cartoon was originally published on 2013/04/16).

Caption: I'm so sick of Hollywood values. They clearly have nothing but hatred for America. That's nonsense. Why do you think Hollywood makes billions of dollars from millions of Americans every year? All those "Hollywood" values are actually American values. Millions of Americans engage in violence, promiscuity, and whatever else you see on your tv. On the other hand, millions of Americans practice all the kindness, selflessness and tolerance you also see on tv. Hollywood is just a mirror of our society. I only meant they charge a lot for movies and cable. Oh. Never mind, then. You're right.

Caption: I want my baby boy to have the same values I have. So he needs to know the people who raised me. Don't look at me like that. I wasn't looking at you, Big L. I am not being defensive. If you want him to watch "The Cosby Show," that's your business.

Caption: I'm rewatching J. Michael Straczynski's Babylon 5 for the fifth time, and something's bugging me. The show's all about right vs. wrong and good vs. evil. It's maybe the best morality play ever filmed for tv. Even the goofy comic relief character, Vir Cotto, ends up risking everything to rescue thousands of women and children from a holocaust. In that episode, he personally represents the morality of the entire show. Why, then, did J. Michael Straczynski end the episode with Vir joking that all marriages have problems after he found out his new wife was a raving bigot who had happily taken part in committing that genocide? If even J. Michael Straczynski would ruin his best story by going for a cheap laugh, it's not wonder everything coming out of Hollywood is dumbed down! Explain yourself, J. Michael Straczynski. Who are you and how did you get my phone number? That's not important right now.

Caption: Emmet Roscoe Bell Sr., a 94-year-old World War II veteran, visits Lemont's dream. Do you have any regrets, sir? Oh, not really. I was what you'd call "stern" coming up, but you had to be in those days to protect your family. I saw the world. I did everything I set out to do. I tried to help people. I lived life to the fullest, even when I didn't leave the house anymore. Everything you do in life, you've got to be at your best. Sometimes I get up before 9.

Caption: The suit-animals tossed me $85 in coins today, Rosencrantz. They gave you $84.50. So? Do you assume that makes you better? Do you not have even a flicker of doubt about that whole system of self-worth measurement? Suppose it had come down against you, with me getting 50 cents more? It could've easily happened ... ... And by your system, that'd make you inferior. Shouldn't you be shining my shoes? (Originally published 2011-07-30).

Caption: Y'know what I just love? Democrats. I also think Hollywood values are great for America. Y'know where I want to live? San Francisco. Y'know what I'm just dying to drive? An electric car. Y'know what I wish government would do? Take away my guns. I'm trying out sarcasm. It's my new thing. What do you think? It's annoying. Oh. Thanks for your opinion. It really means a lot to me.

Caption: You did what? Took Lionel to his first town hall meeting. He's only two, but it's never too early to teach him he's a member of society and everyone values his opinions. He asked if the President would consider replacing the "bald eagle" as the national mascot. People with kids ... He made a great, 18-minute long case for "Big Bird."

Caption: This is Loserbanc Massacard. Mr. Brown, our records show you have an outstanding balance of $1,198. Loserbanc? You guys charged that off way back in like 1994. Do you know what year this is? You guys fell of my credit report a decade ago. How would you like to rectify the situation? I wouldn't. But .. .the moral thing to do is pay us what you owe us. How "moral" was it for you to make me pay thousands more than I ever borrowed in late fees, mysterious "finance charges" and your sky-high APR? Our terms were legal. Well, it's also legal for me to refuse to repay a debt that you charged off so long ago. I can accept payment over the phone. Good for you! I can tie my own shoes. Our mommies should give us each a cookie.

Caption: What's going on in here, Garcia? Mr. Fitzhugh, Dick Fink, my assistant, tried to trick me into signing this resignation letter. He's after my job. Ms. Garcia, are you questioning my character? I'm a hard-working family man. Notice he's not denying it. Oh, I'm shocked. My delicate sensibilities can't take these irresponsible allegations. He's not denying it. It's not nice to attack a family man's character, Garcia.

Caption: In an alternate reality, the events of 1948 happen instead of 2009. Sorry, boss, I can't possibly read this depressing news in an excited tone. I'd feel like a heel. Yer a good man, Brown. You got principles. But what the people want is excitement, see? I don't know, boss. I got another story for ya to read, then. The headline: "Miracle Cure for Principles Found! It's Called Getting Fired!" President Obama says "It's better not to point fingers" and pardons the Japanese war criminals who tortured our boys! Now that takes moxie!

Caption: What does Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele think he's doing? Ain't no party like a GOP Party 'cause a GOP Party don't stop. I think he's trying to tell us that, in the wake of a history-changing election, the GOP realizes it has to incorporate ideas that appeal to the priorities and values of minorities and young people. Watch me back my thang up!

Caption: The Starbucks at the end of the world. Where the lost and abandoned can find rest, a warm cup and free Wi-Fi. Note to self… We found John McCain's lost honor, but it refuses to come with us. Of course it does. Why go back home to be with someone it hardly knows anymore? Someone it don't respect no more? Someone who keeps throwin' out his brand new Afro sheen? We still talkin' about John McCain?
