Get Your Words' Worth. John Roberts on campaign finance: The government may no more restrict how many candidates a donor may support than it may tell a newspaper how many candidates it may endorse. Like, duh! So, dollars are equivalent to words, which makes exactly as much sense in reverse. That'll be three pronouns, please. As the owner of a large book collection worth billions of words, would you consider donating some to my campaign? Vote me. Of course, Roberts isn't very good at recognizing absurdity. I'm just saying money talks, so it's not corrupting. What's so hard to understand here? |

Slouching Toward Sequestration. Turning and turning in the budget war mire. The court's fiscal woes are turning quite dire. To cut budget's further you'd have to be jerks. Things fall apart without lawyers and clerks. Rough justice is coming if we don't get more dough. Sequester the monster is out of control. He was created to scare us into budgets austere. The blind beast fills the land with nothin' but fear. Yes the monster and I share a political lineage of free-market zealots and GOP patronage. But so what if my lament seems a tad ironic. This sequester's a monster and the crisis is chronic! Poetic Justice. Yeats. Federal courts. |

I'm tired of people blaming republicans for the government shutdown. It's both sides' fault. I mean, libs refused to negotiate Obamacare. They insisted it was a done deal. Thank God For Culture Clash. SINCE WHEN has something been "done" just because it was passed by both houses of congress, signed into law by the president, and upheld by the Supreme Court? Since 1787. You're not supposed to answer hypothetical questions. |
