Caption: Where you been last couple days, Big L? The Star Trek Discovery season finale was incredible. It made me really want a Captain Pike spin-off. So naturally, I've been in every discussion forum and all over social media trying to motivate everyone on earth to sign the CBS, give us a pre-TOS Star Trek series w/ Captain Pike. Struggle is pointless. petition on Change.org. Naturally don't meant what you think it mean. How do you say please in Hindi?

Caption: House of Java Café. Grand Opening. I come from a long line of warriors. Women from my family have served in all 49 World Wars. There were only two. You don't think the first world war was fought in 1914, do you? Let's take for instance, the so-called Seven Years War ... The year was 1750: My great-great-great-great-great-great-grandma Sadie dared a Frenchman to build a house in the British Ohio River Valley ... yadda yadda yadda, all the world's great powers ended up fighting across five different continents. We've served similarly in every world war dating back to the epic struggle between the allied dinosaurs and the axis of invertebrates. Admit it: There've been more than just two world wars. There's no shame in admitting you were wrong. Ok. I was wrong. Loser! He's a loser! The loser admits it! Can't win.

Caption: 1982. When I grow up, I want to be a single dad, Lemont. You mean "single mom"? Are you kidding? Compare "Alice" or "Gloria" or "One Day at a Time" with "Diff'rent Strokes" or "Silver Spoons." Single moms all struggle for long hours in dead-end, low-wage jobs. But single dads are all millionaires who don't seem to need jobs at all. My goal in life is to prove tv wrong, is what I'm saying. Fred Sanford's a single dad and he's always having heart attacks.

Caption: What you called me last night at two a.m. for, Big L? I don't know. I just didn't want to sleep, I guess. Every time I start to drift off, I begin to have this dream I really don't want to have. So I'm just going to stay awake until my subconscious mind gives up and forgets about that dream. I ain't never seen a man play "chicken" with hisself before. I'm going to show me who's boss if it kills me.

Caption: Nonviolence only work in certain circumstances, Big L. What do you mean? Worked in the civil rights struggle 'cause we was just demanding what the constitution already said we should have. Worked in South Africa 'cause the oppressed had leaders who didn't recognize the "other side's" right to exist. Ain't NONE a' that goin' on in Palestine, bruh. STOP HOPE-BLOCKING!!!

Caption: It's ok. You can use my struggle and my death as a teachable moment. You're only talking about your image of me, not the real me. You may have had a poster of me on your wall, but … you weren't with me to see me mature and see how truly blessed I felt. My songs may have connected with you deep in your soul, but ... you don't know me. I was actually more of a Prince fan. Not. At all. My point.

Caption: Beyonce gonna have Jay-Z baby. You know what that mean? It mean in ten years, we gonna have to listen to music from some kid who didn't have to pay no dues, 'cause her parents had connections and handed her a fat career on a silver platter. What that kid gonna sing about? True art come from struggle an' heartache. What kinda struggle an' heartache that kid gonna have? She'll have to deal with everyone thinking her struggles and heartaches are frivolous. That ain't nothing!

Caption: No, Lemont, I don't hide my money in shady offshore bank accounts to evade taxes. Oh. That's good to hear be-- I do it to evade the inevitable collapse of the American economy and the ensuing post-apocalyptic struggle for survival. But …. if our economy collapses, the whole world's economy collapses. Now that's just paranoid.

Caption: What do you mean "If you're a writer, come up with a poem right now"? I write prose. I write short stories, with plots and dialogues and multiple characters struggling against each other. I don't have to spit out a poem to prove I'm a writer. That's like telling a heart surgeon to perform BRAIN surgery to prove he's a doctor. Not convinced, dawg ... that don't even come CLOSE to rhyming.

Caption: Anderson Cooper's Battle Journal, Day 18: We found McCain's long-lost honor. After Karl Rove's lies destroyed John in 2000… …he told me: "My God…the genius of that. "The will to do that perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure." That's when he realized, they were stronger than he was. You couldn't stay to talk him out of becoming just like them? I had frequent flyer miles that were about to expire.

And now some punk-@%$ kid with big floppity ears comes from nowhere and steals my -- I mean his -- thunder. What did you say yo' name was again? Uh... Smackson. Smessie Smackson. O...K...

Caption: You look happy. Good day fo' a thug rapper, Big L. But I thought you were depressed. I thought white folks in Iowa voting for Obama filled you with hope. I thought that hope made it impossible for you to go on profiting from black misery and despair. Yeh, but then I remembered black-on-black crime. That ALWAYS gon' be there.
