Caption: Why vote at all when some say the candidates are "the same"? Here's a handy comparison. Obama at his worst. Romney at his best. Didn't push for single payer health insurance. Continuing drone strikes. Not hard enough on Wall Street. Still clings to "bipartisan" strategy that lets him get steamrolled. Took a while to warm up to gay marriage. Talks about "clean coal". Would push 45 million people off of health insurance. Might refrain from nuking Iran. IS Wall Street. Steamroller ride sometimes bumpy from running over remaining spines of democrats. Might take a while to annihilate gay marriage. See Los Angeles in "Blade Runner".

Caption: So much of presidential races are about the personalities of the individual candidates. I don't vote for a party - I vote for the best man! But what we're really electing is a social network. Linked in. Willard Mitt Romney. Boston, MA area. Mitt has 53,271 connections. Batty casino magnate. Bush-era neocons. Wingnut thing tanks. Of course, speaking in these terms just isn't sexy. Campaign 2012. And now for the latest in the race between two extensive webs of people and institutions from which regulators, ambassadors and supreme court justices will be chosen. Many people will just never get it. I'm voting for whoever has the most beautiful children! I'm voting for whichever candidate likes pudding pops!

Because a deadly product marketed by multinationals is just like a citizen petitioning the government. Yes, we must protect cigarettes' freedom of expression, lest we wind up like Russia. Caption: POP CULTURE PERISCOPE. Web ads touting odd tips from moms are EVERYWHERE. Lose belly flab in 10 days with one weird trick discovered by a mom. Scientists are awed by the large number of discoveries. Four years of med school and $100k in student loans, and I'm routinely outclassed by some mom from, strangely, whatever town I happen to be in. The first known instance of such an ad dates back to newspapers circa 1891. ASTOUNDING! This one peculiar gambit devised by a frontierswoman cuts butter churning time in half! Here's one we'd like to see: Learn a mom's one weird trick to get stupid people to click on web ads.

Caption: Slowpoke. Politics 101 with Professor P. Today's lesson: "It's the system, stupid." People who don't get the Occupy Wall Street movement accuse protesters of "hating the rich." You got a problem with success? We are the 99%. These people turn criticism of a political system into a personal attack. No, I just think you should pay a higher tax rate than your secretary. hater! Let's try an exercise in thinking like them! I don't want my child playing with this lead paint-covered toy from China. We should regulate these products better! Oh, so you hate Chinese people! Someone who refuses whipped cream on fried fudge is clearly out of touch with the people! Caption: Slowpoke. The Color of Welfare. From listening to people like Newt, you'd never know that more whites receive food stamps than blacks. … The African-American community should demand paychecks and not be satisfied with food stamps. (Actual quote.) Funny how republicans don't seem to single out the rural whites getting "handouts." You folks need to stop collecting other people's money and get a job! Things would be certainly be different if they did. There would have been more bombings in Oklahoma City, but Timothy McVeigh stopped to collect his welfare check! Ron Paul looks like a scrawny backwoods METHHEAD!* Crox News. *based on statements made about blacks my Ron Paul's newsletter and Brent Bozell. And what's with all the poor hicks owning HUGE TRUCKS? It's time to get these Dodge Ram-driving welfare kings off the government teat! Crox News.

Caption: Slowpoke. Laziness Craziness. It's a common insult among critics of the Occupy movement: Get a job! Duh! We need jobs. How high does unemployment need to be before these people stop scapegoating? Seems like there are more and more lazy people every day! Tsk! Next they'll be yelling at veterans ... Get a limb! ?! Iraq war vet - please help. If anything, they seem a bit lazy in the put-down department. There's really only one response to such a poor intellectual work ethic: Get a job! good jobs now! Caption: Slowpoke. Occupy Womb Street. Some have accused Republicans of ignoring unemployment as they focus instead on anti-abortion legislation. Ah, but we are working on a jobs bill, designed to help a group that's nearly 100% unemployed … "Introducing the Fetal Positions Act: For all those unborn Americans tragically forced into amniotic idleness." Will work for nutrient-rich blood. "Some companies won't even consider hiring a newborn with a nine-month employment gap." "Fortunately, there are many jobs suitable for the unborn. This blastocyst is making placental status-monitoring Android apps." Waste levels high. And by making abortions hard to get, we're creating further labor opportunities! Aaargh! So don't let anyone say the GOP isn't putting people to work!

Caption: Slowpoke. Welcome back to Politics 101 with Professor Perkins. Today we'll be discussing the word "entitlements." This is an actual billboard spotted in Washington State. Should people collecting entitlements be allowed to vote? Note the two possible meanings of "entitlement." Entitlement programs. Your hard work is rewarded later. Sense of entitlement. Spoiled brat who thinks the world owes them something. Calling Social Security an entitlement invites this confusion. What is we called babies entitlements? Doctor, where's my son? Who do you think you are. The queen mother? Just because you gave birth to him doesn't mean your entitled to keep him! Next week: Should people who don't understand entitlements be allowed to vote?

Caption: Slowpoke. The supreme court may soon strike down election laws that give public financing to poorer candidates - on the grounds that it infringes on the free speech of rich candidates. The government is penalizing the privately-financed candidate for engaging in unfettered political expression! Makes sense to me! That's right: Giving more speech to the poor means you're taking speech from the rich. Coming soon: Free speech debates! People begin holding up signs showing their annual income before speaking.
