Caption: Hate the Nanny State? You'll love The Aristocratic Old Grandpa State. Everywhere you look lately, there's a member of the Prosperity Police telling you what to do. Tut-tut! Not working hard enough! These success Nazis are obsesses with social engineering. The more I keep, the better everyone does! Also, young ladies should stop having sex, except for with me. Tax Code by me. Ayn Rand Reader. Scribble-scribble. They keep crushing individualism with their corporate collectivism. I'm just like you, except with astronomical amounts of money and power. Plus: Immortality. Galactibank Corporate Charter. Mom & Pop Co. Yes, it's time to get big plutocracy off our backs! Pay more taxes, you pathetic mooch! I would, but you laid me off!

Caption: If social justice movements tried not to offend anyone. Votes for women now! We mustn't alienate the menfolk! Suffrage please (if it isn't too much trouble). I dunno, maybe we should knock off this "identity politics" thing. We march for civil rights. Stonewall means fight back! Smash gay oppression. Wait, what are we doing? This is just a "boutique issue." ... and into the present. Don't grab my hijab, bro! Are you sure you want to be so p.c.?

Caption: Many people seem to view government as a shopaholic of sorts. Families are cutting back. Why can't the guv'mint? Tax and spend! That's all these bureaucrats want to do! Some of these profligate officials agreed to speak with us anonymously. It started when I got a rust our of buying manhole covers. Now I get my fix ordering bridge repairs. Somebody please stop me! I'm sorry, but sending disability checks to people with horrific diseases and injuries is simply too much fun! It's like buying a new flat-screen tv every day! In. Out. I know I should cut back on trying to keep feces out of hamburger meat, but the truth is, I get off on preventing foodborne illness. Sorry, taxpayers!

Caption: Kneejerkin': Health Care Edition. Welcome back to Knddjerkin', the game where we try to get ordinary Americans to oppose their own beliefs! Did you hear about the hedge fund guy who's buying prescription drugs and raising the prices astronomically? What a scumbag! So healthcare shouldn't be about pleasing investors, right? I ain't no socialist! Price gouging by pharmaceutical companies and hospitals is wrong, isn't it? Yeah. Good thing Obamacare cost control measures slowed price growth in 2014! Repeal Obamacare! How weird is it that Americans spend more per person on health care than any other country, but don't receive the best care? Yes, we're getting ripped off. We need a single-payer system, don't we? No, because guv'mint bad! Three for three!

Caption: What I remember is Carl taking my arm, and walking with him outside the student union to my apartment. I feel so strange … I don't know how he knew where I lived. Maybe I guided us back. I remember feeling relieved that someone was helping me get to my place, a place of safety. Memories remain in cinematic flashes. The next thing I recall is sitting on my sofa, Carl in front of me removing my clothes. Let's get these off. I recall feeling embarrassed that I was naked and that my underarms stank. He said something about a bath. (This is a long form cartoon. To see next panels, use "Image Number" box at left and enter 124878.)

Caption: Slowpoke. Backyard Blitz. Hi there! I'm Al Perkins, President of L.O.U.D.* Here are some tips to keep your yard looking great this summer! Why use a broom to sweep grass clippings when you can use a LEAF BLOWER? REEEEEE-EEEEEEEE. Don’t bother with a ladder for those hard-to-reach places. A rocket-propelled jetpack will make pruning a BREEZE. BZZZZZZ. Cough! Cough! ROAR! BLAAAAAR! Scare off crows and other critters by encircling your yard with a wall of Marshall amps blaring Norwegian black metal! SA-TAN! SA-TAN! Bzzzz. Roar. And then it's time to sit back and relax! Ahh ... REEEEEEE. *Lawns Of Ungodly Decibels.

Caption: Slowpoke. Mr. Perkins vs. The Recession. Dear Diary, As you know, I was laid off from the comic strip last week. The hunt for a new job is not going well. First I tried trolling for prawns on a fishing vessel. Pay was on a per-prawn basis. All I caught was a soggy old soft-cushioned toilet seat. But it didn't matter. In the afternoon, the prawn market crashed and I was laid off. Next I took a position assisting with pug insemination. But the stud services company had invested with Bernie Madoff. I was laid off. In an act of desperation, I tried out for a bit part in Beetle Bailey. Miss Buxley! I've got a package for the General! But the whole strip got outsourced to a sixteen year-old in Korea. The next day ... Slowpoke wants to hire me back at half my former pay and publish my diaries. Huzzah!

Caption: Slowpoke. And now a word from the Secretary of the Treasury … Drooly Julie. My fellow Americans, it's time to get this country shaking it's moneymaker! To do this, we must look at the origin of our financial crisis: An overextension of the adult novelty industry. Firms like this one invested heavily in exotic sexual devices no one could understand - partner-default swaps, frottage-backed securers, queen-sized suction puppies, and foursquare bean strokers. Nookie Nook. In any event, a lust-based problem requires a lust-based solution ... First, I propose injecting liquidity into the tight credit market - again and again, as necessary. Also, we need to retool the auto industry. As Detroit goes limp, so goes the nation! We need the sexy cars of the future NOW! If workers must get laid off, they need job retraining, like my friend Bud here. Crack! Finally, we need public works projects. I want amateur porn block grants! massive bedroom infrastructure projects! And shtup for America volunteers! S.F.A. "E Duo Unum." Yes, it's time for THE NUDE DEAL!

Caption: Slowpoke. Welcome back, class, to politics 101 with Professor Perkins. Today we'll be discussing the phrase "THE BLAME AMERICA FIRST CROWD." We find it stems from a certain bogus assumption. Rowe's Conflationary Law: Bush = America. America = Bush. In fact, the two are total opposites! America. Open Government. Civil Liberties. Human Rights. Talent Rewarded. National Parks. Checks and Balances. Opportunity for All. Freedom of Press. Scientific Achievement. Separation of Church and State. Bush. Secret Government. Illegal Spying. Torture. Cronies Rewarded. Destroying National Parks. All-Powerful Executive Branch. Opportunity for Already Well-Off. Intimidation of Press. Rejection of Science. Merging of Church and State. Therefore, when a Bush supporter says you hate America, it's proof that you love America! "Blaming America First" = Criticizing the Bush Administration. = Criticizing the Opposite of America. = Supporting America.
