Caption: Newspaper Co. Sports Desk. Ernie, we need headlines for our series of articles on sports stars trying to revive their careers. Let's start with the Australian athlete. "Boomerang Thrower's Comeback." A basketball player bulked up to become competitive again. "Hoopster Muscles Way to Rebound"! The tennis star overcame a serious illness and is back on the court. "Tennis Champ Rallies: Makes Exciting Return"! The skier, on the other hand, had to retire. He's a politician in a dirty election fight now. "Skier in new race to the bottom"!

Caption: This article says there's a growing epidemic of diabetes and obesity in America. Really? This one says Americans are increasingly health-conscious and fitness-focused. Americans are like a silent scream. What, dramatic? Oxymoronic. Yeah, we're people who sit around eating donuts while watching "Dr. Oz".

Caption: What'd you think of my article about why our country's waged so many wars? I thought it had a few typos. You wrote "Philistine" instead of "Philippines." You wrote "Manicure Destiny" instead of "Manifest Destiny." And I'm pretty sure "First Barbershop War" is not a thing. I mean what do you think of my point? I think you should stop trying to write articles with your iPhone.

Caption: You're still not talking to me 'cause of that article I wrote? Come on, Susan … The FBI investigated Clinton's email scandal and found that she totally lied about whether she was sending confidential emails from unsecure person servers. How can you be mad at me for saying a politician lying to our faces for a year is a bad thing? What if I write another article about the thousands of lies Trump tells, will you talk to me then? ... Hello?

Caption: What's wrong, Lemont? I always ask myself one question when I cover a politician in my own party. "What would I think if this person were in the opposing party?" People are hypocrites, Susan. We tend to give a pass to people in our own parties. But I'm a journalist: I have an obligation to be candid. Even if it causes people to stop visiting my blog. So ... you're thinking of writing an article about Clinton? That's an awfully strong grip you have there.

Caption: Come in, minion. Did you read that Lemont Brown article from Candorville.com? The one about Delores Park in San Francisco? Apparently you can now reserve a patch of grass for seven hours if you go to the city's website and pay up to $250. If anyone trespasses on your grass, security guards will roust them. This is the biggest breakthrough in the separation of the classes in ages. I'm going to make all our booths and toilets paid-reservation-only. Very bad man.

Caption: What do I have to do to get Donald Trump to attack me on Twitter" I've tried pretty much everything. I've written articles about his phony college, documented over 100 of his lies, and cataloged every time he's pandered to racists. But so far he hasn't called me a "loser," a "total failure," or even "nobody." Being trash-talked by Trump is a rite of passage for any real journalist. Didn't he once have a goon yank you out of a press conference by your underpants? You're just trying to make me feel better.

Caption: I read that dumb article you wrote, where you said we should have magical fairies deliver caramel-covered mountains of cash in sacks made of rainbows to every man, woman and child. Don't say anything. Don't say anything. Don't do it … Don't do it … That's not all that I wrote. I wrote that we should give our war veterans better access to health care, education, and job training. If you have to explain what you wrote, then what you wrote wasn't very clear. Gah!!!

Caption: This article is written for those ambitious people living life in the fast lane. It has some quotes about hard work and success. It's believed Vince Lomabardi said "The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary." "Success is dependent on effort" is attributed to Sophocles. And there's this from Colin Powell: "There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure." I tried to live life in the fast lane for a while ... but it seems I'm an off-road vehicle.

Caption: Dear Jerk … I am offended by your article where you wrote that "getting offended" is America's new national pastime. I've angrily shown it to all of my friends, after first telling them that what they were about to see was offensive … and each of them agreed with me that it was just as repugnant as I insisted it was. They all now despise you with a passion, just as I had told them they would before they'd ever heard of you. Dear sir or ma'am: I'm not sure your polling methodology is scientifically sound. On behalf of all Americans, I demand an apology, a retraction, and a public flogging. Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap.

Caption: It all started when I first covered Donald Trump on candorville.com. Dr. Noodle. The first article I posted got 2 million views. So I posted another. That got 6 million. So I … I started writing about him every single day. M.A. I see. Well, that's only natural. We all have an instinctive need to give people what they want. That's why as soon as a guest enters our home, we offer them food. Yeah, I'm starting to feel like I'm fattening them up for the slaughter.

Caption: I just edited your Wikipedia entry. I still have no idea what that means. Tap tap tap tap tap. It means you're now the longtime mistress of Donald Trump. At least, you were … until he discovered your pattern of credit card fraud, your obsession with taxidermies squirrels, and your cloven hooves. In my day, when a man spoke gibberish while staring at a little box, he was institutionalized. Tweeting a link aaand ... it's already gone viral.

Caption: Rudy, I'd like you to broaden your skill-set. What for, boss? You have a real flair for making coffee. House of Java Cybercafe. But the era of the specialist is over. These days, workers must be able to perform the duties of several people. A lot of political cartoonists are now expected to also draw bar graphs and write articles covering the local car wash openings. I fired my long-time dentist so I could hire one who'd agree to also paint my bathroom. Workers specializing in just one thing is a historical aberration, anyway. For most of human history, people had to catch their own food, make their own clothes, dig their own graves ... and give offerings to their overlords. How good are you at painting bathrooms and performing root canals? How hard can that be? I'll go see if there's a root canal on Youtube.
