Caption: Saw your blog. Great article about eyestrain, Lemont. Thanks, Susan. Eyestrain's an underrated affliction. I miss writing fiction. I miss sending my dreams off to the publishers. Oh yeah? I used to lose myself in the words you created. Oh, yeah. And with people watching TV on their phones, it's only gonna get worse. But it's always "blindness this" or "glaucoma that." But every rejection was like to sadistic fingers snuffing out the sun. Eyestrain is the black sheep of the eye-affliction family. If I just write about today's news and people hate it, it doesn't mean they hate me. It just means they hate the news. You don't say. You're such a wuss. I do say. I know.

I've e-mailed you several times but you haven't responded. You have? Yes, I mentioned how I'm a deposed Nigerian general and needed your help to hide $39 million. At the end of the e-mail, I mentioned we have a job opening here at the Chronicle. Why didn't you call me back?

What if I talk them out of like me? I mean, that's just wrong. Unprincipled! I'll just screw it all up. You are impressive, they will like you, and you won't screw it up. I write an article condemning people who call each other "N****," an' folks get angry I used the word "N****." that word is still so powerful it angers people no matter what you say about it. Maybe Clyde's right. Maybe we do have to co-opt the word an' turn it into a term of endearment. Otherwise it's always gonna have the power to hurt us. D'you really think Clyde puts that much thought into it? Hey, N****, hey B*****, wussup? Never mind.
